For your information, I confirme that giving local admin rights for the user on the computer having problems resolved all the problems !

It may not be a solution for all, but its a path while waiting for a fix.

We're experiencing same problem and having positive results as well while temporary running OS with user having local Administrator right.

Waiting for the permanent solution.

Giving a user local admin rights isn't an option for us.  Against policy here... too many bad things happen with 'joe average' computer user having admin rights LOL 🙂   It seems disabling the NDU option in the registry has worked on the few we tried it.  As well as upgrading to Win 11.

Workstation Administrator can temporary run OS (make couple restarts, run all updates check) logged with his/her user.

It's working for us and we're not providing the user with high privileges.

Hello,

Tx you for your feed-back, Fortemedia APo control service (FMAPOService) is a service installed by Realtek-sound driver.

Here are the result of my investigations, that seems to resolve the problem also :

Just be logging into the computer with an admin account (different from user account with no admin right), and reinstalling the Realtek-sound driver (and rebooting one time with the admin account) resolved the problem for me for all users using the computer (Without admin rights).

Thanks for the info! Have a great day.!

I have this issue as well on 45 computers and it only happens on this model. I've tried messing with Windows updates and other recently installed software but to no avail. I'm going reimage one of them to see if it helps.

Hi ICEMAN, I resolved this issue by allowing local ADMIN rights on our 8GB HP 440 laptops, around 20 of them, issue came back when Realtek Audio/Fortemedia was updated again, so I manually disabled the 'fortemedia' service which has something to do with Realtek Audio:

FMService64.exe
Software DeveloperFortemedia
SoftwareFortemedia APO Control

While disabling the service I had Task Manager open & watched the 8GB RAM descend from 100% to around 80% and the issue has gone away for good. No impact to audio, not quite sure why it's there, think it has something to do with enhanced audio, but it worked & has had no impact to the user experience. Am now ordering HP laptops with 16GB!

All of the laptops we have are 16GB, I can not give users admin rights.

All, I work for Fortemedia and we are working on this issue.  Can you share the name of antivirus or endpoint protection software you are using, and the setting you have implemented to limit registry access?  Thanks!
