Anyone had any issues where bitlocker seemed to be on by default.

IE the drive was encrypted but no boot password and no advice to backup or export the encryption key

Hi @Roadrunner6

Microsoft's BitLocker does not come turned ON automatically on a fresh clean Windows installation no matter what.

If this PC is your own personal device, and if you are not aware of Bitlocker key and you haven't configured Bitlocker on your own, most probably you use a slightly different BitLocker (FDE) version for certain PCs and tablets known as Device encryption. Probably your key is stored in the Microsoft Cloud - OneDrive. It should be accessible with your Microsoft account here >> https://onedrive.live.com/recoverykey

Here is more information:

Did you manage to find your recovery key ? Is it really Device Encryption ? Looking forward to your reply.
