HP zBook 17 G3

Hello!

I have HP zBook 17 G3.

According to the manual http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04953838

RAM of this laptop is customer accessible/upgradeable

Does it mean I can open bottom cover of the laptop myself and then add some RAM? Will it void the warranty?

Thank you.

Hi,

Upgrading RAM and hard drive is accepted practice and will not void warranty as long as you do not break anything while performing upgrade.

On your PC is is customer accessible as you have service door on the PC. So it will definetly not void warranty (page 45 of service manual).

Hope it helps,

David

Thank you for the answer.

I bought this laptop in the US. I am currently in the CIS region.

The HP team in Russia accuses me that I voided the warranty by removing the bottom cover and upgrading RAM.

They said, HP technician should not replace the dangerous battery by Battery Safety Recall Program because I opened this cover.

Also, I just want to clarify. If the user violates the warranty, does HP really refuse to replace the battery under that Recall Program and leave the customer with a dangerous part? Customers can fly with this battery and put at risk other passengers, for example. Does HP really have such policies?

Yes, it seems rather strange and not correct. Anyway, I am a volunteer in the forum, so I have notified a moderator to see if they can help.

All the best,

David
