I used to have the HP Elitebook 840g and was able to project to my HP E45c widescreen curved monitor at 5120x1440 with no problem. I just got an Elitebook Ultra G1q 14" AI PC, and it will not project anything more than 3840x1080. Anyone who can help? It's very annoying, and I hate that my monitor is coming across grainy and low-res.

What is your HP Elitebook 840g ? How do you connect them ?
Regards.

No change with the connection. I have an HP USB-C dock which connects to the monitor by HDMI. The strange thing is my husband's Dell was able to connect to the HP E45c monitor just fine, and is able to project at 5120x1440. But I just can't get the new Elitebook G1q to do the same. Very frustrating.

Sorry I still don't know what ie your 840g machine ? What is your dock. Looks like the dock is NOT fully compatible with your G1q 14 machine.
Its manual: https://assets.grandandtoy.com/assets/Additional-pdf4/10/82/1082499660.pdf
which says it is compatible with :
- HP multiport universal USB-C hub part # M96882-001
- HP multiport USB-C travel hub part # N60372-001
- Thunderbolt dock 120 W (with cable) part # L15809-001
- USB-C Dock G5 (with cable) part # L64086-001
Regards.
