Is there any kind of replacements done fo the hinges? I see from these boards that I'm not the only way that has this issue.  I'm either going to need a hinge replacement along with the back cover at this point since the plastic is breaking away because of the hinge or a new computer.  The problem is that I see these hinges are still an issue.  I don't want to invest in another HP if this issue hasn't been resolved with the new models.  Is HP doing anything about this or offering free repair of these parts even if you didn't take an extended warranty?  As much as I hate to say it, if this flaw hasn't been dealt with, I may need to consider buying a DELL. Everything else about my laptop still functions well, but I can't even close it anymore so it's not portable.  Please advise what this status is.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.
