Hey there,
my notebook is on constant fan noise with a cpu load on an average of 15%. - even in plugged in or in battery mode.
The notebook is not overheating at all, and not under extreme processload.
Sometimes even in inactivity mode the fans are speeding up - without any input on my side.
i´ve already tried several KB-articles. for example: (all steps done)
HP Notebook PCs - Fan is noisy and spins constantly (Windows) | HP® Customer Support
Also tried the following youtube video:
Adjust Windows Power Settings to Reduce Fan Noise | HP Computers | @HPSupport - YouTube
but my notebook won´t stop the fans from speeding up, and producing constand noise.
Is there a proper way to fix that issue?
BR
Dominic

Hello
try to install HP Image Assistant.
it will help you to update BIOS and Drivers.
it's very use to use.
Download it from here ; https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/cmit/HPIA.html
bye

I do have exactly the same problem!
CPU load is at 6% - my laptop is doing nothing! Nothing! But whenever I move the mouse, open a NOTEPAD or a CMD - one of the smallest programs every - the fan goes beserk! OpenHardWare Monitor shows CPU-Core temperature for all 4 cores at around 35°C!
I can not use this laptop in a meeting - the constant fan noise was disturbing - I had to put it down!
The fan is constantly on! all the time! it won'tstop! This is $2000 HP EliteBook X360 1040 G8 Notebook - well it was for sure my last notebook! A $2000 laptop should be quiet! But thats not the case with this model!
No, I'm uptodate with all drivers and patches! And no, the laptop is not hot! And no, there aren't any unusal background programs - currently only Office 2019, FireFox, 7-Zip, IrfanView, Edge, some .NET Frameworks are installed!
any ideas? @Dreierdo - have you tried to reinstall Windows?

just an observation: when ever I fold the X360 into tablet mode (360°)h- the fan stop immediately and its totally quiet! But as soon as I fold it back - the fan spins up at its maximum! I fold it back in tablet mode - quiet! I can browse, open as many tabs I like, browse quickly through all my photos - nothing - it stays quiet! But as soon as I put it back in "laptop mode" - wham!
@Dreierdo - does your laptop behave similar?
