Recently we purchased the HP Elitebook 8 G1i 16" laptop with 64 GB from HP.COM.  I got 3x of these, and all of them does not install Symantec VIP Access.  Setup launches, black command prompt window opens up (so far normal), then when it closes, nothing happens (normally you get the standard GUI to start install).  The same installer works on my ProBook 4 G1i.   I find it odd that it errors on all the Elitebooks.

Anyone else experience the same thing?  I am reading that Symantec will not proceed with installation if it fails to read the CPU properly.

Hello,

Make sure you have all drivers installed. Download and run HP Image Assistant to install all components.

Ensure you have the latest MS Visual C++ redistr. package >> https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170

Restart Windows and try again.

You should seek support from Broadcom (the Symantec's owner/vendor) on this topic. It is a software matter. not a hardware issue.

So looks like my issue is not Elitebook related, after fully updating the ProBooks as well, I cannot install VIP Access.  When I say fully update, that means running Support Assist to apply the HP updates followed by Windows updates.  I'm just keeping notes here in case any one is having the same issue.  I will have to apply updates and test which one is causing the install failure.

So as pointed out, it did turn out to be a Software Issue.  We have SentinelOne as our antivirus and that was causing the issue.  Once we uninstalled that, we were able to install the VIP Access program.
