Product: HP ENVY - 15-as103na

I am used to a keypad where I can double click and also scroll using the touchpad, by having a finger or thumb on the nearest  area and moving another finger on the touchpad.

I seem unable to do that with this HP envy touchpad and have to scroll through pages by clicking on the side scroll bar of pages or parts of windows.

i think aI am missing a clever UI trick, but it has defeated me.   Any idea what i am not doing correctly?  Thanks
