Hi,

When i put a 65W cpu in my HP EliteDesk Pro G2 Mini it gives me a "Rear Chassis Fan Missing" Error whereas i do not get the message with a 35W CPU, all this with a 90 or 115W Power Supply..

Any suggestions?

@SamyBoy,

Condensing, it appears you have the HP EliteDesk 800 35W G2 Desktop Mini PC, NOT the HP EliteDesk 800 65W G2 Desktop Mini PC version.

Watts matters, as you found out.

Looks like you may be stuck with 35 watt processors. The Intel i7-6600T or the i7-6700T being your fastest processor options (Reference: CPU-Upgrade: Intel Core i5-6500T CPU).

[EDIT:] @SamyBoy, I may have been too quick to assume you couldn't make a 65 watt processor work on your 800 35w G2. As per @old_geekster: "On Pages 45 and 46 is a list of compatible processors and instructions for replacing them: Maintenance and Service Guide HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Desktop MiniHP EliteDesk 705 G2 Desktop MiniHP Pro....

Here is what it says that you should do after replacing the processor:

NOTE: After installing a new processor onto the system board, update the system ROM to ensure that the latest version of the BIOS is being used on the computer.  Here is the latest BIOS update for your motherboard: Driver - HP EliteDesk 800 35W G2 Desktop Mini PC | HP® Customer Support."  HP Forum link: Solved: Elitedesk 800 g2 35w CPU upgrade - HP Support Community - 7460800.

Kind Regards,
