HP Elitebook 840 G5 - power adapter plug won't stay in

Hello,

I have a work provided Elitebook 840 G5.  Overall a fine machine.

The one thing that is absolutely killing me is the power adapter plug.  It won't stay in.  This is especially bad if I'm using it on a non-flat surface (for example my LAP 😉 ).  It slowly works it's way out, and I see the power icon in Windows indicate it's on battery.  I've probably pushed it back in 10 times in the past hour.  It really seems like a design flaw - the socket must be shaped in a way that "rejects" the plug and it slowly works it's way out.  I'm sitting as still as possible and it seems like just the vibration from me typing this post is enough to get it to come out.

Is this a known issue ?  Is there perhaps a 3rd part AC adapter that will work better ?

Totally agreed. Two things are killing me:

 (a) power port, why HP did not supply USB-C charger for this type of machines.

 (b) it does not have SD card reader.

Nearly 100% of its time is connected to a dock therefore the first one it not a big problem but the second one is a problem for me because I use SD card everyday therefore I have to connect it to an external card reader (USB).
