I tried to find the Bios setting, but didn't find it. Where can I find Fan always on setting?

Tried also Fan Speed Tools, but also none worked on my notebook. It's really annoying and loud, what I didn't expect buying an HP Business notebook.

I hope HP will solve the problem soon.

HP Recommended

(1) Boot and hit F10 multiple times

(2)  switch to the tab "advanced"

(3) select "option integrated devices" - Option für integrierte Geräte

(4) select "fans always on" - Lüfter immer an bei Netzbetrieb

Hi again koberg!

I saw your posts but had a 24 hour shift (which in my country is actually 36 hours) and couldn't really post the way I wanted to...

- Hi Thomas1789, glad I'm not alone.

You are definitely not alone in this. Every once in a while the Hp laptop engineers grant us with these cockamamie fan profiles on certain laptops. I first had this pleasure when I bought a probook 650 g2. What a trip that was: The infamous pulsating/throbbing fan! Even the Austrians at notebookcheck gave them a really big thumbs down on this one (https://www.notebookcheck.com/Test-HP-ProBook-640-G2-Notebook.169863.0.html) and not long after Hp pushed a BIOS fix (https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05347881 https://support.hp.com/ph-en/document/c05324029). Good times. Unfortunately the "fix" didn't fix it 100% (complete debacle), so I ended up installing hirschmann's nbfc. Now I use it on every laptop I get, if I can get it to work....

- Maybe "Notebook Fan Control" could be the solution, but I can't get it to work for now - shout out to TzortzisG, still trying.

I'll give you some basic pointers. First off, for an Alder Lake cpu and win11 you use the fork (https://github.com/UraniumDonut/nbfc-revive). You also need to update the OpenHardwareMonitorLib.zip after installing according to the instructions on the link in the first page (https://github.com/UraniumDonut/nbfc-revive/issues/27). This is actually the easy part. The hard part is finding out what are the two registers that control the CPU fan (and the other two for the GPU fan, but I think yours only has ONE fan). For that you use DSDTEditor according to the instructions on hirschmann's page, or rweverything (instructions on the fork's page).

However, from my experience, Hp rarely changes registers between laptop gens. For example probook 640 650 g1 g2 g3 used the exact same configs. In your case I would try all zbook configs, and start off with HP ZBook Fury 15 G7.xml which is on the fork's page, and is the most recent version.  If none of them (zbook configs) work, note the registers used in these configs and try them manually.

- Adjust power settings to reduce fan noise. This can be done through windows 10/11 settings or by directly limiting CPU with third party software (Throttlestop is a good start).

Your laptop has a cpu limited to the measly 15w. It will perform for some seconds, but then downclock according to that power limit. The cooling system is also equally weak and suited to that "crippled" config. Personally, I would install throttlestop and if not completely disable turbo boost, then either limit speed shift max or put a low short power limit (PL2). Why? Well your cpu basically only goes full throttle for a couple of seconds and then throttles right away to the 15W limit. However, these erratic jumps create temperature rises that cause the fans to ramp up, then down, etc, etc. By closing turbo boost or just by limiting it, your CPU doesn't suffer in its sustained performance, but it does make it much less "jumpy" and the fans will only come on when cpu is really used (definitely not office programs).

- here are the requestet parameter: Betriebsystemname Microsoft Windows 11 Pro

Bear in mind that windows 11 uses virtualization by default for "security" and other reasons, effectively locking down the system for any other program to access its registers. So, for anything (nbfc, throttlestop) to mess with windows 11 laptop registers, you must disable all this junk first. For instructions, search throttlestop windows 11 disable virtualization and you'll see posts on all the things you have to disable. That means that if you need virtualization, there is no way in windows 11 to tweek your laptop's fan, cpu or anything else with third party software. Your only other alternative is RU.efi to directly edit fan profile in BIOS, but that's easier said than done.

Other than that, you're stuck with waiting on the kindness of HP...... Hope this helps a bit!

Hello @koberg

The file @IT_WinSec  suggested is <HP Power Manager 3.0.16.0>, thanks for helping

@IT_WinSec  you forgot to mention:

Quote: "

1. Enable Power Options in the F10 BIOS Settings. NOTE: The application does not function when Power Options are not enabled in the BIOS.

2. Download the File by clicking the Download or Obtain the software button and saving the file to a
folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the download file is saved).

3. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

"

Good luck @koberg

With all due respect to IT_WinSec EXPERT Level 15, how is this relevant to these guys affilctions?

HP Power Manager is a battery management tool. HP Power Manager enables you and your IT administrator to monitor the health status of your battery and to change your battery settings from the operating system instead of the BIOS.

Hi @IT_WinSec,

this package helps barely, the fan still speed ups from 945 to 2858 RPM - may be the duration of the 2858 RPM got shorter but probably it's only wish thinking, thank you anyway.

@TzortzisG

If I got the time I'll try your suggestions and report my results, thank you for trying to solve the problem.

Koberg did you actually run the HP Power Manager App from the start button? It's a battery manager.....

In other words you updated a battery manager program! Wishful thinking i dare say.

This is a very common problem with HP laptops (especially the business ones). I've had this problem many times, so I know how it is. I do hope enough people complain to HP to get a BIOS update out quickly.  Best of luck, post back if you need any help....

Short update from my problem. I contacted HP Support. They told me to update all drivers and send IDR file, which I did. Then they told me again to update drivers, which are already updated. So no real help from HP Support so far. I will try the suggestions above and keep you updated.
