EliteBook 840 G5 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We are using EliteBook 840 G5 Notebook PC with HP UltraSlim Docking Station(B9C87AA#ABA), running on Windows 10 (64 bit).

The DisplayPort however is not detected by the system.

When the lid is closed while docked the VGA display shows "Out of Range" on the screen.

When the lid is opened  the VGA display works OK, however DisplayPort is never detected.

There is one USB Device which has failed.  Has anyone had the same issue with the DisplayPort not working?  Help please.

Hello All,

Just an update on what I found after I did soem troubleshooting:

System:

1) EliteBook 840 G5 Notebook PC

2) OS Windows 10 (64bit) ver 1709 (OS Build 16288.755)

3) HP UltraSlim Docking Station(B9C87AA#ABA)

4) Dell 2007FP monitor

5) HP EliteDisplay S231d

Setup 1:

======

Connect  HP EliteDisplay S231d using USB Upstream Connector via USB port on Docking Station. (No signal)

Connect Dell 2007FP monitor using VGA connection on monitor and Docking Station. (working)

Setup 2:

======

Connect  HP EliteDisplay S231d using USB Upstream Connector via USB port directly on Notebook. (working)

Connect Dell 2007FP monitor using VGA connection on monitor and Docking Station. (working)

Setup 3:

======

Connect  HP EliteDisplay S231d using USB Upstream Connector via USB port on Docking Station. (No signal)

Connect Dell 2007FP monitor using DVI-D connection on monitor and DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter to the Docking Station. (No signal)

Setup 4:

======

Connect  HP EliteDisplay S231d using DisplayPort Connector on monitor and Docking Station. (working)

Connect Dell 2007FP monitor using DVI-D connection on monitor and DisplayPort to VGA adapter to the Docking Station. (working)

All this to say that my DVI-D to DisplayPort adapter stopped working after my update from Windows 7 to Windows 10.  My work around was to use DVI-D to VGA adapter for 1 monitor and straight VGA cable for the second monitor.  Other options were to use straight Displayport cable on both ends.

/I hope this help...
