Today I was in service with my Zbook I9 G7 for Main Board, System fan and I/O module replacement.
All of these was changed, but at first start without any app started, in windows 11, I saw the same CPU Hight temperatures 98 degree ....
I called the service again ... they on a moment told me that is normal to have that ... after a few moments they recognized that the processor paste (from the factory) was very dry... That happend because the laptop run permanently on hight temp...
And conclusion finally is that laptop is not really fiable... It was not very well designed and that is why it is very hot...
It's quoted as a good graphic station, but for example in Adobe Premiere I worked till now at 1/4 quality from an video in idea to be faster. Recently I saw an video with another workstation (much cheaper -ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED de la ASUS - W7600 ) where was added 4 vidoes 4K in same frame with blur effect on each, and all moves very smoothly... I say to try and on my laptop, but just with an video FHD, with blur and with a text animation and surprise, play pause not smoothly ...
All cores was over 97 degree..

I'm back with an Adobe Premiere screen recorder running on this laptop (HP Zbook Fury G7, I9), effectively in timeline navigation (mode quality HD) ... It's a graphic workstation , but all run not smoothly (a lot of interruptions) ... Seems it cannot play HD video in timeline editing with a simple blur effect.

OK so I thought I had better update what happened with mine as it is now gone back to HP and I am getting refunded.
Background was overheating over the year I had it.
1) New cooling system. 2) Then a few months later a new fan and motherboard (this has the i9 integrated into it), Bios checked, Still problems so a few weeks later 3) THIRD motherboard (systems board).
Interesting thing was that the temperature came down a lot from the high80s and 90s after the third board.
It was when turned on 64-65 C rendering a 30m multi level video with the processor hard to stress unless I added other programs. However, after 2 to 3h of fairly light work the temperatures would go up to 74-75 when rendering with 84C for a few minutes at the start. It was MUCH easier to stress, just the rendering produced 100% CPU activity.
Underneath of the machine was warm but OK.
I was LOT happier but HP were NOT. Their standard is that the temperature should not go above 10C above baseline.
So THEY asked for me to return it again.
I decided I had had enough and they have now agreed to buy it back and refund me.
Interestingly in the last two days before packing it up the CPU temperature was fine BUT the underneath of the unit became
too hot to touch and I in fact turned it off as I was worrying about it catching fire....had that happen years ago to a desktop and its not a nice experience.
Hope this helps others. I am not sure if they checked that there was paste under the i9 btw .....one of the engineers who came to see my unit said it CAN happen that this is not done properly.
Hope this awful experience helps others...

Interesting question. It looks like I am not alone with overheating problems. I am concerned about quality assurance as well.
HP say they will come back to me as to whether the G8 is any better ref rendering. My gut feeling is to go to a desktop for my serious video work. No idea what yet......
I got the G7 because it was so well made ostensibly and well reviewed....top of the tree so to speak....watch this space I guess.
I am soldiering on with my old DELLS for now.....the Mac Studio and Mac Pro 16 M1 machine are receiving rave reviews but I am not comfortable on Macs......I have a MacAir and iPAD....and anyway you cannot get them yet!
