Bios settings changed, drivers installed and now the firmware for the dock... completed

Day 1 system working as expected. Never had this many steps nor issues with a dedicated docking station.

I am having a new problem. I am using a Zbook Studio and since last week, the USB keyboard and mouse (connected to the dock) are not usable. Keys are repeated over and over, and the mouse has a mind of its own. These are a MS Wireless keyboard and mouse set. If I plug the transceiver directly into the zbook, all is well.

The only change that I made last week was to update the BIOS from 1.12 -> 1.13, not sure how that would affect the Dock only.

So my question is, are there updated drivers to address this or are there specific settings in the BIOS that must be tweaked to remedy this situation. Other than that the dock has been working quite well. Yes, the dock has has both firmware updates applied several weeks ago.

I had the exact same issue when I updated from 1.09 to 1.10 on the ZBook 17 G3.  I reverted back to BIOS 1.09 and the issue stopped.

I'd recommend reverting to the older BIOS.

@80s-diver

Many of us are having the same issue, the only workaround I have been able to do is just plug the keyboard and mouse directly to the laptop and bypass the dock.  I am hoping that HP sees how many people are having issues with this and are actively working the issue

@iMaxx, soccer_dan, etc

Is HP working this issue or able to provide further information?  I am very motivated to get past these issues, since we have paid lots of money for our G3's etc and we have more problems than a used bargain basement computer.

Yeah I had the same issue as well when I updated to 1.10 - Reverting back to 1.09 fixed the issue for me as well. This is the most stable combination I have found. I am going to stay with this from now on.

Thanks for the info on the BIOS downgrade, I will give that a try later today.

Nice idea on the BIOS downgrade, it does seem to work for me to fix the keyboard and mouse issue.  The only downside is that the monitor flickering is back with BIOS 1.09 when I return from sleep or when the monitor turns back on from the power option settings.

The flickering does go away though, so it a is a choice of which inconvenience I want to live with for the time being.  I am looking forward to the next BIOS release.

I do not want to downgrade the BIOS. I am also having these issues with the wireless keyboard. I have found out that disconnecting the docking station from the laptop and from power,  and then reconnecting again brings everything back to normal. In general the whole USB management of the docking station is still not fixed.

I am appalled at how many issues I have had with this docking station. It almost feels like they come from different companies...

Also, does anybody know how can I find out the firmware versions of the docking station - I think that there is more than one firmware, but not sure. I have 2 different docking stations - work and home - and to keep everything in sync w/o knowing the FW versions is a bit cumbersome.

Run the dock firmware update utility...it will tell you if the dock is already up to date to the version that the updater installs. As for not downgrading the BIOS...to each their own. I know of a lot of times over the years that the bleeding edge update caused more problems than it fixed...especial when it comes to CAD software that I administer. I've not had any flicker issues, but returning to 1.09 has been 100% stable for me on three different docks (home, and two offices).

I did the BIOS downgrade back to 1.12 (Zbook Studio) and the USB issues have gone away. It is too early to tell if they are permantenly fixed, but at least I can plug the devices back into the dock vs. the laptop.
