HP EliteBook 1040 14 inch G9 Notebook PC IDS Base Model

We use HP EliteBook 1040 14 inch G9 Notebooks in Combination with HP Thunderbolt Dock 120W G4.

Sometimes the Dock is loosing Monitors and Network recognition. This happens if you update the firmware of the Dock or for example after upgrading the BIOS/UEFI of the Notebook. If you then change the Dock with the same setup, the new Docking is working well. Some times the the supposedly defective dock does reconize the display and network adapter again after a couple of days.

The HP PC Docks and Displays Diagnostics für Windows Version 2.1.1.0 detects an error with the following device:

Dock SubItem Error -

Expected device:PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_5502&SUBSYS_87B9103C&REV_03 was not found!

But a restart of the docking or disable/enable the device or even delete it from the device manager wont help.

Are there any recommendations what to do to get the docking working again?
