Usb 3.0 not working

When I plug in my seagate freeagent external hard drive I get this message: "this USB mass storage device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a superspeeed USB 3.0 port". The computer has 3 USB ports but none of them are the blue plastic insert that usb 3 ports are supposed to have.

I am running Windows 8.1/10 pro.

So I'm wondering why does the usb 3 not seem to be working and how do I get it to work?

i would make sure your BIOS and drivers are up to date for the platform. it is 8 generations old and current tools do not support that model. However, you should be able to find drivers on the HP website
