HP Folio 9470m
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Usb 3.0 not working

When I plug in my seagate freeagent external hard drive I get this message: "this USB mass storage device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a superspeeed USB 3.0 port". The computer has 3 USB ports but none of them are the blue plastic insert that usb 3 ports are supposed to have.

I am running Windows 8.1/10 pro.

So I'm wondering why does the usb 3 not seem to be working and how do I get it to work?

but usb 2.0 work all port why usb 3.0 not working

Thanks for any help you can give.

i would make sure your BIOS and drivers are up to date for the platform. it is 8 generations old and current tools do not support that model. However, you should be able to find drivers on the HP website

for example, in the US, here is the drivers link for windows 10: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitebook-folio-9470m-notebook-pc/5271995

I work for HP. However, all opinions and comments are my own.
