I still believe it's a driver problem, because if I deactivate the Conexant Audio Driver, system usage goes down immediately.
I think, HP should provide some updated drivers, which solve the problem, as soon as possible. Or if it#s a problem, which can be solved with a bios update, they should provide one. And in the meantime, some mod can maybe give us some feedback, if there is any progress with this problem.
Now there are many people, which have this problem, that it can't be coincidence. Maybe it's only a problem, which happens only in specific combinations (CPU, RAM, SSD / HDD -Combination).
I hope the problem will be solved in the near future, because it's really annoying.

Hi. I join the club with similar symptoms in my ProBook 450.
Quoted is what helps temporarily. I keep that application window (no Idea what it's for!) open and clik rescan symbol in the upper right corner when needed.

I've just updated driver through Windows Update (from Device Manager at Conexant Audio Item, click Update driver), not from HP. Now, I have same version as Ken1943. I'm curious if it helps.

Hello,
for me a clean boot "solved" the problem. I still have to find the process or service which occours this, but it looks like that it is maybe not a driver problem...
Source:
Clean Boot: 1. On the search bar, type msconfig and hit Enter. 2. Check the check box Hide all Microsoft services, click on Disable all and click OK. 3. Under Startup tab, click on open Task Manager. 4. Under startup tab in Task Manager, select the startup items and click Disable. 5. Close Task Manager, under Startup tab of System Configuration, click OK. 6. Restart PC.
