Probook 450 G3 does not start.Removed battery, still doesn't.
Beep code (2x long, 2xshort) indicates BIOS problem.
Downloaded BIOS on another PC to create an BIOS update USB Stick. After installing, error message from the tool "HPBIOSUPDREC64: Die System-BIOS-Updatedatei fehlt oder ist beschädigt." (BIOS update file missing or damaged)
There is a .bin file in the folder that is probably the BIOS. So I started the tool in the command line with the -f parameter to use this file. Error message: "The update file 'N78_0155.bin' does not fit the 2013 BIOS naming convention."
...aaand I'm stuck. Please help.

hello again,
if the Bios does not work correctly, a boot process via a USB stick will not work either. Have a look at the following article. If the [windows key] + [b] variant also does not work, you are lost.
How to create BIOS recovery USB WITHOUT using HP site (which is non-responsive)
I would desolder the bios chip and use a programmer to write the correct bios file. However, this is very time-consuming, since the notebook must be completely disassembled for this. Furthermore, it is not guaranteed that the notebook boots afterwards, because the bios startup chip could also be affected.
An alternative would be a replacement board.
Good luck

Thanks for your reply, but that didn't help. Either the notebook doesn't have the BIOS recovery built in, or it doesn't work. Not with Windows-B, nor Windows-V nor just B.
I need to create a BIOS USB stick, but the tool HP provides for that doesn't work.

Unfortunately warranty is expired...
1) I am not able to enter BIOS
2) I am not able to create the USB stick
3) https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp140001-140500/sp140005.exe
Thanks for looking into it.

Hello,
>>https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp140001-140500/sp140005.exe
This package is not suitable for usb boot sticks, it has to be run within windows to update the bios directly on your probook.
Operating system has to be Microsoft Windows 7, 8.1 or Windows 10.
=> However, since the notebook is not bootable, it cannot be applied.
best regards

I am aware I need to run this on Windows. I did so. On a different PC of course.
This tool has the option to create a bootable USB stick, and it has a BIOS bin file in it. I was pointed to it by a HP support page, and it is mentioned in the support pages you sent me. If this is the wrong tool for the job of creating a bootable USB Stick to flash the BIOS from, please tell me.
Problem is imho just that it doesn't work. It starts with an error message, see my first post. So the option to create the USB stick is greyed out.
