I need a way to update a bios that has a bios password set FROM windows remotely.
Scenario:
I'm at my desk, a remote user is having a known issue related to a BIOS revision that is older. I need to update it but the user is not at my location. We cannot supply the user our BIOS password by policy. Prior to these new models, we could put the BIOS password into a box during the update; however, NOW we are forced to supply it on bootup. This is impossible without traveling to the users location. We had a case open with HP and they said "you need to script it" I need to know what that entails. We used to be able to use switches and whatnot with the bios update utility.....I don't see that ability now. Please provide guidance to remove temporarily the bios password remotely (known bios password it's not forgotten) and re-enable it after upgrade.
re-cap,
BIOS password is known
users at remote locations require bios update
cannot provide users the password
cannot physically travel to the user's location
need it re-enabled after update.

The System BIOS softpaq includes HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe and HpqPswd64.exe.
1. Run HpqPswd64.exe and press OK button after typing in the BIOS password two times and the BIOS Setup file.
2. Run "HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe -s -fN81_0112.bin -pmypassword -a -h -b". In this example, the BIOS file name is N81_0112.bin and the BIOS setup file name is "mypassword" that I generates using HpqPswd64.exe.
You can put this script file for the command "HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe -s -fN81_0112.bin -pmypassword -a -h -b" in the login profile our push the command after copying them to the local system.
I work for HP. All opinions and comments are my own.

So I had to change it a bit.. but it worked! You are the single best human ever. Thank you!
Couple notes,
1. I had to change the syntax to HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe -s -pmypassword -fN81_0112.bin -a -h
2: the -b didn't work either...locked up the system and wouldn't continue. No log entry was created either. I manually suspended bitlocker.
3: IT WORKS! Thank you very much. Final question, after the reboot it deletes the encrypted password file.....is that by design? Can I re-use the file itself?
Example:
run HPqPswd64.exe and input the password, specify "mypassword" <-- copy that to our server for re-use? Seems like I should be able to. Thank you again!

Hi, I have the same problem and I want to test your great solution but I can't find HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe file in my BIOS SoftPack. I have downloaded HP BIOS Configuration Utility but in this softpaq there isn't this file but there is HpqPswd64.exe inside.
Can you tell me where can I found HPBIOSUPDREC64.exe file, please?
Thank You very much!
