Retrieving BIOS/Firmware-Installation Logs via HP SSM

Hello there, 

we use the HP Tool SSM to distribute many drivers and also BIOS/Firmware Updates to all our clients.

Does the BIOS/Firmware installation write logs? And if so, where can we find it? Or is it possible for SSM to retrieve this information? Because naturally we can not track the installation process of the BIOS/Firmware after the restart (no remote control possible) we would like to analyze it via logs. 

E.g. we have issues with the HP USB-C Travel Dock after the BIOS Update. We suspect that there has to be some problems installing firmware components.

I'd appreciate help or any information regarding this issue.

if you install the HP Notifications softpaq, you will see hardware event logs created in the Windows System Event logs area, under Applications and Services Logs... The HP Notifications sole purpose is to pull hardware events and post them to the System Event logs

The HP Powershell Script Library (CMSL) can also be used to access the hardware event logs directly from the motherboard

On a side note, HP is recommending the move from SSM to the HP IA (Image Assistant) and HP CMSL tools for updating systems... There are some blogs at https://developers.hp.com/community/blog/hp-client-management that show how to use HPIA and the CMSL to inject drivers under MECM/SCCM and also for driver/bios updates under MECM/SCCM
