Elitebook 840-G3
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

At some point in the past year, the left Ctrl and Fn keys swapped roles. You can just imagine how annoying this is every time you want to cut and paste....

I couldn't find anything relevant in Windows. After a lot of searching, I thought I found the smoking gun in the BIOS with a setting called "swap Fn and Ctrl". But no matter which way it's toggled, it does nothing.

Reading messages here, I again thought I had the answer when years ago people reported the same problem, and it was a simple as powering down, removing all power (AC adaptor and battery), restoring and restarting. But the battery in my Elitebook is built-in. How do you remove the battery when you can't remove the battery?

Anyone have any more recent tips on dealing with this?

TIA

a full reset can be accomplished by holding Mute/Power for 15 secs (if the keyboard has a Mute button) or just the power button for 15 secs without A/C plugged in

I work for HP. However, all opinions and comments are my own.
