Webcam is not working

HP Elitebook x360 1040 G6
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

 Hello,

 

i got a new HP Notebook and tried to make business conference with webcam.

But the is black (also in Windows system Settinges -> camera). The white LED was lighting, but there was no picture.

I think something with the driver is wrong. I also tried it many times to reinstall.

 

The device manager shows the webcam. If I open details it shows the following information:

 

The device need more installations: "USB\VID_0408&PID_5390&MI_00\6&13abca21&0&0000"

 

Can somebody help me?

I assume you have checked the little door, that is, that the camera privacy door is open on the webcam, yes?

At this writing, the HP Universal Camera Driver includes Windows versions through Windows 10 V1903.

 

I cannot automatically assume the driver will work for Windows 10 V1909, which is the latest Windows version at this writing.

 

Brand new commercial grade computer is under a nice warranty.  This warranty, a level above the standard warranty included with consumer grade computers, might include driver support - at least for a limited time.

 

If the little door is indeed open so the camera can be used,

If the problem cannot be resolved with a good Windows Update,

If the issue remains in spite of having all your HP software and drivers installed and updated,

Consider opening a case with HP Technical Support and ask for help.

Reminders

  • Use the serial number of the device to submit the case (do not post that information on the Community).

 

  • Chat is not available in every region.
