HP ZBook 15 G6 Mobile Workstation

My zbook g6 wont charge from the G4 dock with a 150w adapter

The cable is fine, as my wife uses it for her HP sucesfully

I habve updated bios, and did do teh 15s startbutton battery reset.

If I connevct the cable, i see battery charge indicator flash ca 5 times, then it is off, nothing charges.

Does anybody have any idea?

Thanks

Henk

Hello Zbook in general can't be charged via USB-C.

HP Docking for Zbook have a bigger Power Supply tham 150W and the cable from TB docking to Zbook has a dual connector: one USB-C and one for Power Delivery with barrell connector.

bye

Hi there,

Thanks for this answer. Also  makes sense, but it has the tunderbold options all enabled. and the original charger was only 90W.  I do understand that is only charges more slowly, but that is only good in a dock.  It is the voltage that should triggert charging, not the Amperage per se, I thought?

In the mean while I also called HP, as it wsas still in guarantee, and they are checking the machine now.  Very nice service. So I am curious what will be the outcome....

Kind regards

Hello

if the zbook G6 arrived with a 90W power adapter, it could be a zbook 14U or 15U , could you confirm ?

the U version is similar to Elitebook 8x0 G6 and in that case they could be charged via USB-C connector.

which is the exact model of docking are you using ?

I ask this because 150W power supply (PS) is not used with current Docking

This was an old Docking using 150W PS: https://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c04959218

current Thunderbolt Dock G4 has a 120W PS for Notebook https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-thunderbolt-dock-120w-g4  or 280W PS for Zbook https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-thunderbolt-dock-280w-g4-dock-w-combo-cable

bye

Thanks again.

The thing is at hp now. They did not say anything on this. So let's see. If so, it would not have useful to get it to hp. Their service looks good.

In the specs of does not not say any u. Is is a 15 inch 64gb memory, i9 98xx model with 1tb SSD

I just bought the dock second hand. Same as my wife has. In het elite ook...

Let's see. Thanks for your support
