Hello @AnneKrist

>sorry, your dism stuff didnt work. Found nothing and  finger still not recognised.

The command works, but no errors were found in your case, that's all.

Conclusion:

Reinstalling windows will propably NOT help in your case. It could be that the fingerprint device is simply defective.

hi, because there is no sollution yet, i can not accept this as a sollution. It then would look like a sollution if people have the same problem, but it isnt.

the fingeprint scanner works, i can add a fingerprint.

I will reinstall windows completely.

thank you for your time.

ok, so i dit a reinstall of windows 10 pro. Even a format of the m.2 ssd, but there still is a windows.old map on c:.

The fingerprint works fine now. So the hardware is ok, not damaged. Sollution is reinstall windows. Drivers are installed automaticly. I will now install my software and after each program i will try the fingerprint scanner to see what causes the problem.

Hello @AnneKrist

Technology that excites when you do a complete reinstallation 😅

The fingerprint device and the software it uses did not work after a simple driver installation, so in your case it is/was a Windows error.

lol if "it should work" why are we having this conversation on this forum? i installed and removed the driver several times. No luck.

Well that is too simple. If windows is the problem than Hp should make a driver update fixing the problem.  My hp elitebook 840 g1 is a bit old so i undestand they are not making updates, but that is why this support place is important. I will monitor my laptop and if i get the same problem again, i will inform other owners here. I am very happy with this laptop so i will do this for free.
