Hi @LILI09_
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thank you for laying this out so clearly. I’m really sorry this is happening—especially with a new HP Envy x360-15t-dr100 CTO. When the charging light flickers between orange and white but the system won’t power on or hold charge, it often points to one of three culprits: a faulty power adapter, a battery communication fault, or a board-level power delivery issue.
Let’s walk through a structured recovery approach to help you move forward.
1. Perform a Deep Power Drain
This clears embedded controller logic and resets charging behavior.
- Disconnect the power adapter.
- Press and hold the Power button for 60 seconds.
- Release the button and wait another 30 seconds.
- Plug the adapter directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
- Press the Power button once firmly.
If the laptop remains unresponsive, continue below.
2. Inspect Charging Light Behavior
The orange light typically indicates charging, while white signals full charge or idle. Flickering between the two may suggest unstable power delivery.
- Try a known-good HP adapter rated for 65W or 135W, depending on your configuration.
- Inspect the charging port for dust, bent pins, or looseness.
- If available, test with a USB-C charger (only if your model supports USB-C charging).
3. Check for Signs of Life
Even if the screen is black, the system may be partially responsive.
- Press Caps Lock and observe if the LED toggles.
- Shine a flashlight at an angle on the screen to check for faint backlight or outlines.
- Listen for fan spin or drive activity.
If there’s no response at all, the issue may be board-level.
4. Attempt BIOS Recovery
If the system is stuck in a firmware stall, this may help.
- Press and hold Windows key + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the Power button but continue holding Windows + B for another 10 seconds.
- If successful, the screen may flash and initiate BIOS recovery.
I know how frustrating this is—especially when you’ve just started using the device.
I’m here to assist further. Let’s get your system powered up and working as it should.
