HP ProBook 450 15.6 inch G9 Notebook PC (6K4Y1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

HP Image Assistant 5.3.2 recommends me to execute sp163135.exe (HP BIOS and System Firmware (U72/U85)) on my HP Probook 450 running on Windows 11 Pro 24H2 (version 10.0.26100 Build 26100 (installed on 05/10/2025).

BIOS Version/Date HP U85  Ver. 01.16.00, 19/08/2025.

SMBIOS Version 3.4.

I executed this request several times by running this executable file (also after shutting down the laptop) to no avail.

HP Image Assistant keeps telling me I should execute the file.

Please let me know what solutions you may have.

Many Thanks.

I do now know why the updates does not work.

Looking at the revision list, the bios updates actually seem to do something useful.

I recommend waiting to see if there is a problem reported by other owners.

Is there an error message reported?  Can you check the bios and see if it was updated?

Thanks for your comments.

Answering your questions:

No, there was no error nor warning message. It looks like the installation of sp163135 succeeded just fine, but HP Image Assistant keeps telling it was not installed (and therefore still recommends me to instal it).

As said, the BIOS is from August 2025, while I ran sps163135 today (October 2025). My conclusion therefore is: not updated.

The HP Image Assistant (HPIA) is a tool for IT administrators to improve the quality and security of Windows images on HP PCs by analyzing system configurations, identifying missing or outdated drivers, firmware, and BIOS settings, and recommending the necessary updates.  Possibly there is a security setting that prevents you from updating the system.  I will have to refer you to our senior expert, @Paul_Tikkanen

I assume your location (the pc) is an enterprise system and this is a PC issued by a company. You will need to resolve the security setting, sorry.

Hi,
Sorry for my not perfect english.
I have the exact same issue: HPIA keeps tell me to update my BIOS.
I used HPIA several times to update to 1.16.00 and of course I rebooted my computer every time.
Because it didn't work, I manually executed the SP163135.exe to make a USB key.
During every update, the step 4 on 5 seems to be very short and I don't remember having seen the step 5 on 5.

I reseted my BIOS to factory settings, rolled-back to 1.15.00 (through BIOS), then re-updated to 1.16.00 through Network BIOS Update.
Even with this method, HPIA keeps telling me to update to 1.16.00.
I had a message telling :
"MS Windows BitLocker Drive Encryption (bde) may be enabled on your system.
HP requires that BDE be suspended temporarily..."
but I'm totally sure I don't use BitLocker on my computer.
