updated bios per

updated the lone driver for thunderbolt in the same link and many other updates.
Thunderbolt 3 dock has a display port monitor connected
the computer will lock up after an hour or two with the laptop screen flickering. No mouse, keyboard inputs work.

shows updates for the thunderbolt firmware, but they are older than this computer. Is there a newer version for zbook 15 g6. Trying these updates doesn't complete properly

Your dock is the 1st gen TB dock... I would update the Zbook while the dock is unplugged with HP Image Assistant... Make sure that all is updated, including the BIOS AND all drivers, and Intel components... then, plug in the dock and run HP Image Assistant again to see if it finds additional dock related updates to do
then, run the dock f/w updater
