Hi,
I fully understand the importance of having an updated bios, especially when upgrading the CPU. What I need to find out is: do I already have the most recent bios for my mobo? I'm running Win 7 64 bits Home edition (fully updated) and my bios version is AMI 7.16 23/3/2012
Is this the latest bios for my mobo? If so it's good news.
😀

Denis,
HP stops providing support at a point in time, and this PC you have has been in the end of life category for over a decade. I'd just try your new used i7 processor with the BIOS you have, and know that you might have to go backwards. Paul in that other post found a newer BIOS for a related PC. Some of the hints are that the one he found 8.13 could possibly be used in more than one in the series of these business class machines. Hard to tell... keep us posted.

But what are you talking about, finally
As for bios, the answer has been provided
you give exactly the same version
It is risky to try updating the bios again with the same version, and that will not change anything here, except that you risk rendering the computer unusable.
Unless you are 200% certain, you should not install an update that does not come from the product page

There are versions that appear to be newer, but unless already tested with the same motherboard same SSID, you risk rendering the motherboard unusable.

Yeah, I know it's an old PC. However, it works well. I found the most recent bios for it, but it fixes nothing as far as updating a CPU
So, install the i7-2600 and see what happens. So far as I can read online, I don't think I’ll be needing a cooler, it's not like it's going to be overclocked. Any thoughts?
😊

you don't seem to understand that the last version would already be in place
for that I did not mention to redo it at the start
"I have a Foxconn 2abf mobo and I would like to update my bios from AMI 7.16
if it is because it is written rev a I doubt the difference
but anyway that does not change for the processor, nothing indicated indeed
(NB, I did not answer the same people)
the updates available for the other computer, do not have the same SSID indicated should already check this before !!

Hi Prométhée,
You mention «the last version would already be in place» (bios) which is not the case. Last bios version for my mobo is
7.16 Rev.A 27/2/2013
I have
7.16 23/3/2012
It won’t make any difference for updating a CPU, but it's good to know.
Thanks everyone for the help provided!!

Yes, that's what I said
I'm not sure rev is a difference
I don't pay attention to the date, because I have already noticed date changes on the HP sites, but the file was the same for him
However, I warned you especially not to try updates from another computer.
I can give you for example what is indicated in system information and what is given on the HP site
while it is this bios installed
ID de la carte-mère : 8437
BIOS : F.22-06/25/2018
Mise à jour du BIOS pour ordinateur de bureau HP grand public (ROM SSID 8437) | F.22 Rev.A | 9.0 MB | 20 juil. 2018 |
