HP ThinClient T620
Other

Hi,

I've been trying to configure our ThinClients to enable WakeOnLan in the Bios using the "hptc-bios-cfg" tool with HPDM.
Unfortunately, I keep getting the error: "ERROR: Script file error" as a response from the hptc-bios-cfg tool.

This is the bios config input file I'm using:
config.png

I confirmed that the above file is correctly deployed to the /tmp folder of the TC using the "deploy files" sub-task.
Next the "Script" sub-task should be executed, which is "hptc-bios-cfg -S /tmp/t620_BiosConfig.txt".

And that's where the hptc-bios-cfg eventually returns the error, and no BIOS settings have changed.

Any help would be very welcome.

What worked for me was leaving the line "HIICrc32=" no quotes, with the checksum after the = removed in the BIOS config file.

This is my T620 BIOS config file (v2.19 BIOS), tested with ThinPro v7.1 today

Can you please post the script you use to apply the txt?  Also, can you try running the same script on a thin client and post the output?

Hello,

This information is provided in my original post.
I use "hptc-bios-cfg -S /tmp/t620_BiosConfig.txt" (without the quotation marks) to apply the new config.

In the log, the response that is recorded is the same that I get when I manually execute this on a thinclient:

-----------------------------------------------------

| Copyright (c) 2018 American Megatrends Inc. |
| AMISCE Utility. Ver 5.00.1048.HP v1.0.0.5 (0209) |

--------------------------------------------------------
Error: Script file error

And then it exits without doing (or have done) anything.

If the same script reports the same error on a thin client, I'd assume the config file might be incorrect in format.

You can receive the BIOS Settings file use below command.

hptc-bios-cfg -G /tmp/BIOS.txt

With a Capture File subtask in File and Registry template, you can retrieve the sample config file and make custom change base on it.

Hi,

I tried that, and only made the change that I needed without removing everything else, but I get the same error.
I don't think we're going to fix this problem without knowing what input the utility expects, which is not something I can find documentation about.

I tried pretty much everything I could think of, and only came here as a last resort. If you have any contacts with the developers or technical support on this to ask for information about this utility (and provide them with what I posted in the original post) that'd be great.

Could it be that your BIOS is with a password?  If yes you'll need to provide the password before making changes.  You can run the tool with -h to get help on more options.

Our thinclients do not have a password on their bios.
I am aware of the -h parameter, unfortunately that did not provide any help which could help me solve this issue.
