HP Z4G4 with Adata XPG SX8200 Pro SSD - Problem

I have a newly aquired Z4 G4 with Xeon CPU.  I was hoping to change the HD to a SSD and purchased an Adata SX8200Pro 1TB SSB.  This SSD is describes as 'NVMe M.2 2280 PCIe Gen3x4'.  I have tried installing it in both M.2 slots and into a PCIe slot with adaptor with the same lack of success.  When switching the PC on, it shows this error 'USB Type-C Controller Firmware Update failed on below Controller(s): - Premium Front I/O'.  The case fan also runs up to high speed.  There is an option to continue to boot or retry which does not go any further.  I found in the Advanced/Ports section of the BIOS an option to turn off the USB Type-C Controller Firmware Update.  The PC then boots fine, but the fan still runs fast.  The SSD is however recognised by Windows and can be formatted and used.  But I do not want a PC with a noisy fan running all the time.  The BIOS is updated to the latest.

Does anyone have any ideas what to do next or is this SSD just not compatible?

A followup with another question.  I found that disconnecting the cable that goes to the USB-C front panel interface from the motherboard allows the SSD to work.  After a battle, I succesfully cloaned the original HD to it.  The battle was an inaccessible boot device error which required the Nvidia P620 graphics driver to be uninstalled after booting in safe mode.  The driver then reinsalled itself and so far seems to be well.  The increase in disk speed is remarkable.  Sequential reads have gone from 200MB/s to more than 3000MB/s and random writes from 0.87 to 88.62MB/s.  This now feels like the PC I was expecting.

There is a however though.  I can live without the USB-C ports, but removing the cable causes a POST error '915-Front Panel OCuLink Cable Not Connected'. Presing enter continues without any problem.   There must be something in the BIOS that needs to be disabled to clear this, but it is not obvious what it is.  Cane someone help with that?  Or with a solution to the original problem.
