Hello, to follow-up and close-out this post:

I ended up speaking with the vendor who kindly offered to replace the motherboard, so I took the offer without attempting a BIOS reset. The new motherboard has been working fine since late May.

The vendor declined the return of the troublesome motherboard and I have no use for it. I'm not willing to re-install and attempt the BIOS reset, as such adventures usually turn out poorly for me (collateral damage, etc.).

If anyone is interested in it, the motherboard is available free (there's no CPU in it).
