HP t640 Thin Client (5RL92AV)

Hello to everybody,
I bought 3x Thin Client T640s in the past, and after a long time I want to convert ThinkPro them to Windows 10 LTSC.

I downloaded the official USB boot flash creation app HP oficial. And when installing Win 10, it tells me during installation that the installer is not licensed.

So I looked in the manual, and it says that I can find more info in the administrator's manual, but I didn't find anything there 😞

Thank you for your help.

again,.....as i previously stated A RETAIL COPY OF WINDOWS 64bit can be installed, however the T640 needs to have the ram/HD upgraded 16gb ram and a 512gb ( or larger) sata drive

install win 10 without entering a serial during setup, once the os is installed and all device drivers installed, then do the online  serial activation

make sure to set the bios for "secure boot" if using a 4tb or larger drive or the official win 10/11 64bit USB/ISO images

you can also try legacy MBR OS install by disabling secure boot

if you want enterprise win 10, the easiest way is to just buy a T640 that is licensed for win 10 IOT

hp T640 thin clients are Bios locked to only work with the specific HP thin client OS's which the  embedded licence specifies

remove the plastic plate (if installed) on the bottom of your T640 to expose the  systems label

OEM or Enterprise copies of windows will not install or activate

it is possible to install a RETAIL windows 10 which activates via a serial/network connection

you will however have to increase the ram and storage then once the os is installed manually install and drivers such as video

Hello,
Thanks for the information.
I took the cover off. But there is no Windows license there.

There is only Feature Byte= ...................

SystemMac:
Product NO:
Serial Number:...

I'm going to try creating the USB flash again.

the T640 normally came with HP thinpro, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10. 32 or 64 bit and as i previously stated the T640 is bios locked to ONLY WORK WITH ONE SPECIFIC OS, so if your t640 came with thinpro, then only that will install/activate same for the windows OS's if it came with win 7 then none of the other HP os's will install/activate

Thank you, so there is no way to get my purchased Windows 10 Pro license there?

Is there any way to unlock it?

Thank you, yes, if it's that easy, I'll add more RAM memory and an SSD drive and that's it 🙂
Thank you very much.

That's how it works. I put a 128GB drive and 8GB RAM and the installation went through with my Windows license.

Thank you for the advice.
