Most likely you are using an adpater that does not have the correct wattage. It will beep indicating a power supply issue. These come  with a 180WATT huge adapter but I have used a 120WATT and they work fine too.

Try removing the 2032 backup battery with the computer unplugged. Wait 5 minutes, reinstallI and plug the computer back in. I have two 8100 Elites that I just spent 2 hours swapping out every piece of hardware from the working one except the motherboard and was ready to toss mine in the bin for recycling. On a whim, I removed the 2032 CMOS battery to test the voltage and when I reinstalled the battery and plugged it back in, it c ame back to life. Years ago, (25+) that is the first thing I would have tried. If I keep just one PC from hitting the recycle bin, I have not wasted my time writing this post. Good luck!
