HP Z640 Workstation

I am running openSUSE Tumbleweed on this machine and having some issues installing a Windows 11 QEMU/KVM VM.

I have a TPM module in the machine but have no idea what version I am running.  I have included a TPM v2.0 module in the VM build which is set to emulation mode at present.

If anybody can help with getting either system to accept the Win11 installation it would be much appreciated.

the current requirements for win 11 currently are TPM 2.0 and a supported CPU, the z840 family does not have a supported CPU as such only modified win 11 installs that bypass the above requirements will install on a z840

note also that win 11 release 24 will also require cpu's with sse 4.2 capability which will prevent any cpu lacking this capability from installing (unless the installer and the os is also patched which is unlikely)

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.
