Hi Paul:
I tried that. Microsoft refused to the update. It said the one it installed is best. Thats OK. It is good enough for what I do with this XW8400. I am not a gamer, etc. just email and burn my viyl to mp3 and cd's. Thanks for the info and time.

So, your PC is showing the Microsoft Basic Display adapter there?
If so, you may have to do an advanced install of the driver as follows...
To do that, go to the device manager.
Click to expand the Display Adapters device manager category.
Click on the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter listed there.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver.
Select the 'Browse my computer for drivers' option.
But this time at the bottom of that window, select the 'Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer' option
Then click on 'Have Disk' and browse to the driver folder that 7-Zip created>Display.Driver>nv_dispwi (setup information file) select the NVIDIA Quadro FX 1400 graphics adapter from the list and see if the driver installs that way.
