Hi all,
I'd like to ask for your help following a problem encountered.
I recently got an old HP xw8600 Workstation and a TERRATEC AUREON 5.1 FUN sound card (yes it's old x)...)
However, the optical output is not detected (but the input yes)
I did try to install the original card drivers in Windows Vista compatibility mode (I also installed those for the CMI8738-MX chip after uninstalling the original ones and restarting the PC), but that didn't work. change nothing.
I also tried changing the audio frequencies (44.1 Khz/48) and switching to Stereo, nothing worked.
Anyone have an idea?
Here some pictures:
Feel free to ask more informations.

it's been many years, but as i recall the xw8600 is detecting the sound card and incorrectly enabling it's motherboard onboard audio
go to where the discovered audio devices is displayed and change from the realtek to your cards audio device

Output
Choose your peripheral of output
* output digital (TerraTec ... )
* high definition (Terratec ... )
Select the "digital" output, if you have an optical-cable to connect from the Terratec to your sound-system.
Does this function correctly?

Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
I've already selected "Sortie Numerique" from the Terratec card as an outpout. No sound came ouf of it. This outpout select the Line Outpout, for Home sound system.
An optical cable is already connected to my sound system.
I don't understand why i'm not able to see a SPDIF option from Terratec outpout.

when you plugged in a nvidia card (like the GTX)265) the xw8600 detected the video cards onboard audio device and would switch to it and disable the onboard realtek audio
i suspect a similar thing is happening with your audio card but in reverse, and that the xw8600 audio is being set as default instead of the Terratec card
these drivers may help (remove existing first) reboot, then install using win-7 compatibility
