Prodesk 600 G3 Mini PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

We are managing thousand of HP Prodesk 600 G3 Mini PCs through Microsoft ConfigMgr (SCCM 2016) and we are using the HP MIK with Bios Config Utility to apply Bios password and configuration policies on the thousand PCs. We don't have a problem to apply a new Bios password on all PCs at initial installation since no default password exist (done from SCCM console with HP MIK and it works). During our tests, an administrator has set a Bios password and forgot it on few hundreds of Mini PCs. The PCs are joined to the domain and can be managed on the network through the Windows 10 but no one knows the Bios password on those PCs.

How can I reset the Bios password on hundred Mini PCs using the HP soft tools?

Please help and thanks in advance.

Hi:

Unfortunately there is no way that I know of for you to do that.

The only way to remove the BIOS password is to remove the clear password jumper on each PC's motherboard.

Also, if the person set stringent security, the passwords cannot be cleared by any means.

See chapter 8 starting on page 104 for the only way to clear the BIOS P/W.

Thank you Paul: hope that HP competitors (Dell, Lenovo, ...) don't have easier Bios password reset tools; otherwise, our customer will choose another brand. Best Regards.
