There are two ways I flashed my BIOS, the first approach is explained well in this HP link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4123786-2338478-16, and the second approach is through HP's 'self service' software & drivers link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-elitedesk-800-g3-small-form-factor-pc/15257618:
Another helpful software/driver upgrade tool is the Intel Driver Update utility: https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html.

Dear Forum,
I would like to add some clarifications/additional illustrations to my HP EliteDesk 800 G3 SFF upgrade, specifically regarding the PCIe extension cable:
And routed the PCIe x16 extension cable and the SATA 15-pin power cable to the 24-pin ATX power adapter card through the back of the chassis by removing the PCIe brackets:
