None I've seen from my side.

You're going from an NVMe M.2 SSD to another one so things should be set correctly already. If possible, I'd recommend doing an image capture of your current build to have that in reserve. I use Acronis which lets you create a bootable thumb drive to run the capture/clone process from. I'm currently using the Acronis 2021 version which can work fine with the Z440 and Z4 G4 workstations.

You might be planning on doing a clean install instead.

p.s. You can install the latest Samsung Magician on your current build so if you happen to choose to clone over your current build to your new 990 Pro M.2 drive you'd have that in place already and could to a quick check for firmware update of the 990 shortly after getting things up and running. Magician will be able to see your current M.2 drive but not be able to do much with it. It does not offer a whole lot to Samsung OEM drives... it offers all the options to the Pro and Evo M.2 drives. It does a good job on speed testing for about all M.2 drives so that provides me an apples-to-apples assessment.

EDIT: If you're doing a clean install I'd recommend downloading the Z440 Cloud Recovery Tool W10Pro64 installer. You'll need a 32GB thumb drive for that but it won't use up near that amount of space. Your motherboard must be from HP already HP-W10Pro64 licensed... check bottom label and usually will have a Windows decal on the backplane. Set BIOS to Factory Defaults, and have the target M.2 stick in your ZTD G2 in the HP-recommended slot as the only drive present. Use Windows Update to get that install up to the latest. Capture an image of that when done. Then upgrade to W11 using the latest Rufus or whatever you like best. I make sure my TPM is turned on in BIOS before doing that upgrade to W11 even if it is only TPM 1.2. Do all this with BIOS already having been upgraded to the latest.

Yeah, I'm going to do a clean install, as the current Win10 install is running for many years, and has slowed down due to the usual Windows bloating and registry issues I'm guessing.

I have old Acronis software somewhere, but always found it hard to use.

Yeah, the Magician software  sees my current drive, and can't do much besides doing a quick speed test, display SMART status, and showing a screen with info such as SSD S/N, Firmware rev, PCIe Interface and driver.

Will try to look into that Cloud Recovery Tool, but I'm slow to save all my stuff to somewhere remote. I prefer doing backups to local external drives.

I upgraded my TPM from 1.2, but I fail the Win11 checker for the old CPU generation. We still have a bit of time before the October cutoff.

Paul,

The W10 to W11 upgrade on the Z440 works well for W11 24H2 using Rufus 4.6, for me. Paul Tikkanen here is also using another approach that is working well for him and others. He got me started with using Rufus.

The benefit of the HP Cloud Recovery Tool is that it gets you a custom built installer for W10Pro64 on the Z440, crafted by HP workstation experts... that includes their preferred OS drivers and system settings. Then you use the BIOS factory defaults, and proceed with your clean install. See the EDIT I added to my post just above your last one.

I've gotten used to Acronis. I previously used Acronis 2014 and 2015 for the older HP workstations. The Acronis 2021 works well with the more recent workstations such as our Z440 and Z4 G4 ones.

It is a hassle to do a full clean install, but I've seen original old drivers even from W7 get dragged along during the upgrade sequence from W7Pro64 to W10Pro64 to W11Pro. In fact, you may wish to review how to start with a clean install of W11 24H2 on unsupported hardware using Rufus 4.6, or Paul's method. That way you'd start with the most recent drivers possible. I, however, used the Z440 Cloud Recovery W10 download, then used Rufus for an in-place upgrade to W11 24H2 for my most recent clean install on a Z440 to get an image I can now clone from onto any W10/W11-licensed Z440. Then I build up from there. That is working quite well.
