Since posting, I have found out that I'm referring to "Flex Port" and its ability to adapt to differing I/O.

My ProDesk "appears" to be capable of having the Video Adapter on the Rear of the PC "upgraded".

Currently, the Video Adapter that is installed is not what I would like.

The majority of my Monitors are the old style RGB / VGA style, the Big Blue Plug style.

I'd like to swap out the current Video Adapter for the old style Video Adapter.

Can a Forum Member direct me to the correct Product Number for this Video Adapter?

Additionally, where can I purchase this Video Adapter?

Best regards,

Mike Lynch

PS The Flex Port may also be referred to as the Option Board or the Combo Module.

Can you do it again?

I'd like the same style replacement adapter but USB3 Style.

Does it exist?

@Mike-Lynch,

Yes, as far as I was able to ascertain, the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF can accommodate a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C module, and p/n: L07094-001 / L25753-001 / L31845-001 / L07094-001 module would be a suitable replacement for the original VGA adapter.

Recommended Replacement: L07094-001 / L25753-001:

This module is designed for the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF and offers:

  • 10 Gbps USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C port: Provides high-speed data transfer.

  • DisplayPort 1.4 support: Allows for video output via USB-C.

  • 15W power delivery: Enables charging of connected devices.

It is compatible with the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF, as confirmed by various listings and specifications, such as this listing: HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF CHAGALL USB-C Gen2 data transfer option card L07094-001 L25753-001 4KY84AA [....

Purchase Option:

You can purchase the L07094-001 / L25753-001 module via a trusted, top-rated eBay Seller for $12.98: HP USB-C Module data transfer Option Card Chagall L25753-001 L07094-001 4KY84AA | eBay.

Installation Considerations:

Ensure that your HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF has the necessary Flex I/O slot for this module. Installation typically involves:

  1. Powering off and unplugging the PC.

  2. Opening the chassis to access the motherboard.

  3. Locating the Flex I/O slot.

  4. Inserting the new module into the slot.

  5. Securing the module and reassembling the chassis.

  6. Powering on the PC and verifying functionality.

Is there an option to add a set of a PS2 Keyboard and Mouse?

HP Recommended

@Mike-Lynch,

OK, my understanding is that the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF normally does not include external PS/2 ports.

However, your motherboard may have an internal "PS2/Com B" header -at least as found in some business configurations. The "PS2/Com B" header on the HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF motherboard (if available) looks like a small, rectangular 20-pin (actually 20 minus 1 pin) header.

Here's what to know:

  • The docs say that it is typically labeled “PS2/COM B” on the motherboard silkscreen.

  • It carries signals for both a legacy PS/2 keyboard/mouse and an RS-232 serial (COM) port -HP uses one shared header for either function, depending on the cable attached.

  • To use it, you'd need an HP PS/2 or serial port adapter cable, (p/n: 1VD82AA) which connects that header to the rear I/O PCIe bracket and provides the appropriate ports (e.g., two mini-DINs for PS/2) -see this eBay Seller purchase option: 1VD82AA HP 800/600/400 G3 Serial/PS/2 Adapter | eBay.

Mind you, this is an internal expansion header, meant for service technicians or specific business configurations, not necessarily for an end-user.

Anyway, if your model's rear I/O panel lacks the round purple/green PS/2 jacks, there's no direct way to connect a PS/2 keyboard and mouse without a special HP adapter bracket (rarely sold separately).

Options:

  • Use standard USB keyboard and mouse — fully supported.

  • Or, if you truly need PS/2, you can try an HP internal PS2/Com B header cable kit or a USB-to-PS/2 adapter (works only with PS/2-emulation-capable devices).

In short: No native PS/2 ports on most G4 SFF units, but internal header and adapters exist for legacy use.

Excellent sleuthing! Look also for 910324-001 on eBay for less expensive ones. I don't know if Mike's motherboard has that necessary header.

Q: Why do these even exist?

A: Certain 3-letter agencies are not fond of USB ports on their computers, and fill them with epoxy. PS2 ports don't provide a mechanism to copy/paste from.

or you could use a PCI-E to PS2 card,

however depending on the system

it may not have bios enabled support

IE-will not work when in bios

newer systems can also use a usb to PS2 adapter
