Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I own a HP Z440 currently running Win 10. I want to upgrade to Win 11, but the TPM on my workstation supports TPM 1.2 only, while TPM 2.0 is required for Win 11.

Is there a path to upgrade my Z440 so that it supports TPM 2.0?

Would some sort of firmware upgrade suffice? If not, can the TPM chip be replaced by one providing TPM 2.0?

I'm aware that this sounds weired and I assume that such measures (in particular the HW replacement) are impossible. However, I'm fully content with my Z440 and want to be able to continue to use it beyond the end-of-life of Win 10. Therefore I want to be sure that such an upgrade would be infeasible.

Is somebody aware of any offer HP provides to help me in this situation?

Thanks in advance for any helpful comments or hints!

Best regards,

Well, if you want your Z440 to be officially W11 ready you need to also magically enable it to run a W11-officially-accepted processor. The TPM upgrade seems to be quite difficult to do but the TPM chip in your workstation is reportedly capable of that. However, the processor issue is not possible... you can't run any Z440 processor officially under W11.

What many of us have done instead is to enable running W11 on our "unsupported" hardware via the latest Rufus 4.6. Paul Tikkanen here found another method he likes too. Earlier he got me interested in Rufus and so far that is what I'm sticking with. For both of those approaches there are good YouTube videos, but find recent ones, for example HERE and HERE. .

Also, take a look HERE . All our HP workstations that have been upgraded to W11 are now running W11 24H2. Microsoft added into the running code of W11 24H2 an absolute requirement that the processor at least have "Population Count" capability. All ours do, including going way back to the old ZX00 generation workstations I dug out and tested (the Z400 through the Z800). Every "unsupported" workstation on W11 24H2 also is getting new updates to that via Windows Update over the last 3 months too.

while rufus is awesome at it's designed task(s) for those who want more................

ntlite (paid version) also has the ability of creating install OS iso's/usb keys that also bypass the TPM/CPU/RAM requirements

the free ntlite ver has the ability of integrating (slipstreaming) any desired windows updates/drivers and removing unwanted ms bloatwware

it can also integrate/remove/create custom ISO images that work the same as a OEM's restore image but with updated drivers for example

ntlite works on win 7 through win 11 and is useful for anyone who wants to have a "custom" os install that suits their needs
