to do what you want requires a piece of software on a system (usually a domain server)
you then install the "client" software on each user's system,
for windows it's the AMT ver 7 or 8 this client software also installs the necessary Com3 "SOL (Serial over Lan) driver
now the client side software and/or AMT bios settings are configured to match the server AMT settings
what you are wanting to do is not for beginners it will require a fair bit of reading and experimenting
this is a GENERAL HELP link z800 specific directions are in one of the previous links i already gave you
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vl0MNmLu3F4
one last thing, i can't stress enough ....................IF YOU ENABLE A "AMT" PASSWORD WRITE IT DOWN!!!!!!!!
you can not recover this password using any bios reset!!
i recommend taping the password to the inside cover of the computer

Thanks again for all your links and info.
Currently i am on step 1, trying to figure out how to enable ASF in the Z800 bios (there is no AMT and nothing under the security section or advanced section to enable it in the bios), which there is no option for. Since there is no option for enabling that i can't continue on to any other steps.

go into the bios under security enable AMT (do not enter the AMT yet!!!! if you have already done this reset AMT to defaults and make sure to write down password!!
now install the intel AMT software, try v8 first and if not supported use v7, the software must be installed in order to enable the com3 SOL port, without this you are unable to do anything
now configure the intel AMT software (read link i provided on this)
then enter bios/amt and make necessary config changes (again read docs to know which things to configure)

There is no AMT under security. There is no AMT anywhere in the BIOS. I can't find any ASF in the BIOS either. I am assuming there are different versions of the Z800 out there because my bios has NO reference to setting AMT or ASF.
I have even reset the BIOS to factory defaults as well as re-installing the latest BIOS from HP's website.

this link may also help, and the z800 may have the amt settings in the network rom that is also the AMT port

per this HP link, the Lan port on the z800 is ASF 2.0 compatible, the z800 may lack the mini cpu/OS that the z820 has using AMT
http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/downloads/HP_WS_Manageability_WP.pdf
use the link i provided to download the web ver of mesh commander, it supports ASF

if i still had a z800 i could troubleshoot/figure out what's going on, but all i have at this point is a single z820 that isn't doing anything so i'm afraid i'm not going to be much help.........sorry
let me know if you make any progress
