Z800 remote management

Does this machine (a first gen Z800) have any kind of remote management? It has two NIC's and one has the name ASF next to the port, with an Integrated Broadcom 5764 PCIe LOM Controller.

On the motherboard, there is a USB header for DASH, according to the non-dead pages for this box, they're mentioned when it comes to remote management, what is this for?

A good chunk of pages available for this old machine are long gone, and there's lots of 404's, HP have updated their services, software and everything else, discontinued stuff and removed or renamed others, so finding actual answers is anger inducing.

Any light you can shed on this would be wonderful. Any server or client side software or hardware information you can provide would be wonderful.

yes the z800 has support for remote mgmt. it's called "AMT" in the bios,

in order to use it you must first install the HP specific z800 network driver from the HP z800 drivers page as these drivers include the remote mgmt. software extensions (after the HP nic driver you can update the driver to intel's latest)

you will also need the Intel AMT driver (which includes the virtual com 3 SOL driver)

now you can configure the AMT from within the z800 bios

NOTE THAT THE AMT PASSWORD IS SEPERATE FROM THE BIS PASSWORD, AND CAN NOT BE RECOVERED!!!!!

as such make sure to write it down, (i tape it to the inside cover of the system)

Hi, thank you for your reply. Just got round to having a go setting this up.

I cannot find the AMT section in the BIOS, where would I find it?

The SKU is FF825AV, with the BIOS version 03.61

oops..........only the z820 and newer had a bios "AMT" section the z800 did not which is why you need the HP specific driver to enable remote mgmt on the z800 

read the doc links i provided, they will be quite useful and should cover the DASH configuration which was the precursor to the intel "AMT"
