According to the specifications at the link below, the best supported processor HP offered in the model series would be the AMD Ryzen3- PRO 2200G.
However, this userbenchmarking site for the model series shows that someone installed a Ryzen 7 Pro 2700 in theirs.
There are other processors folks installed beyond what the HP specs indicated.
UserBenchmark: HP 285 G3 MT Business PC Compatible Components
If you install a Ryzen 5 2600 Pro or Ryzen 7 2700 Pro you also have to install a graphics card because the onboard Vega graphics is not supported with those processors.
