My company just provided us with new 840 notebooks and the ultraslim docking station.  I have two monitors that hook up to the dock:  one via VGA that works fine and the other via a DisplayPort cable which has problems with refreshing the screen contents.  Here are my troubleshooting steps:

1)  I have updated ALL drivers including the ADT display, Intel Graphics and the Ultraslim docking station to the drivers recommended on the HP site for the 840 notebook.  This did not resolve the issue.

2)  I then undocked the machine and hooked up both monitors to the ports on the notebook and both monitors work fine.  This eliminates driver issues and also issues with the graphics card on the notebook.

3)  I redocked the notebook and hooked up only the VGA cable to the docking station leaving the DisplayPort cable hooked up to the notebook and both monitors work fine.  This eliminates issues with the DVI cable.

4)  I switched out the DisplayPort cable and used a VGA cable on the same monitor and the monitor works fine.  This eliminates issues with the monitor.

Given the above, this is obviously a problem with the DisplayPort ports on the docking station and/or the firmware on the docking station.  Since I've updated the firmware for the docking station (currently set at version 2.24 from 10/30/2014), I'm not sure what else to try.  I can't update the BIOS on the notebook because it is locked down by my company's administrator - but if both monitors work when plugged directly into the laptop, I don't believe the BIOS on the notebook is the problem.

I can see various posts regarding issues with dual display on this docking station dating all the way back to January 2014.  So, this isn't a new problem - just new to me as my old HP 8540p had no issue with this setup (sometimes newer is not necessarily better).  However, will there ever be a solution by HP?  I'll call Vegas to get the odds on that.
