Alright, I'm at the end of my rope. My laptop stopped working 4 days before my warranty expired, and the closest HP approved repair store was over an hour drive from me. I couldn't make it in time, as it was the beginning of the work week. I tried their diagnostic checks, I searched desperately for a number where I could explain my issue to someone, I spent a good hour mindlessly trying to work with the virtual assistant, posted on this forum, etc. etc. No luck. Still can't find a way to reach someone who can help. By now my warranty is expired, and the only advice I'm getting is to extend my warranty. No. The product failed days before my warranty was up. I'm not giving HP more money.

 

Can someone direct me toward the place I can file a complaint with HP, or will I need to go right to the Better Business Bureau? I'd prefer to give HP the chance to fix this, but my patience is thin at this point.

What happened?

The problem appears to be one of timing.

Product was clinging to its last days of Warranty

The online case was not submitted to HP Support (or was otherwise delayed when you did submit the case)

Warranty expired out from under you

 

There might be a question of whether the issue would have been covered by Warranty.

What?  Standard "free Warranty" is limited.  Not every issue is included.

If you wish to do so (before you issue your complaint letter), read the Warranty information (links near the end of this message).

 

What to do?

We can provide information.

We are not HP Support and we cannot submit a case for you.

We can send your comments to the Community Moderators for Review.

Reminders

  • Case submission to HP Support is available to those whose devices registered and are still in Warranty.
  • Not every issue is covered under the standard Hardware Warranty.  Purchased Care Pack Warranties differ by contract.
  • HP is not a "general" repair facility: Requests for out-of-warranty repairs are generally not accepted.
  • If the problem is hardware, if your device is in Warranty, if your device is Registered, and you cannot submit your case to Support, let us know and we will forward a request.
  • HP Phone numbers you find on the Internet have likely been hijacked.

 

 

Out of Warranty?  What to do...

For those of us who are "Out of Warranty" people, submitting a case to HP is not an option.

HP Support does not generally provide free service for out-of-warranty devices.

Our Community is not HP Support; we do offer help free of charge.

Check the Warranty on your product

         Warranty Check – Single or Multiple Devices

 

NOTE:  Warranty date is updated after purchase and registration of the device.

If the device is not registered, or if there are other issues, submit a Warranty Dispute form.

 

       NOTE 2:  If the single-system-check fails to find your device, use the "multiple devices" method to

check single or multiple devices.

 

  • If necessary, Select your Country on the main website page or at the bottom (click Flag)
  • Scroll down > To the right of Check multiple warranties, Click Continue
  • Enter the Serial Number and Country for one or more devices / systems to be checked
  • Check the box to verify you are "Not a robot"
  • Click Submit (at bottom of list entries)
  • When the page opens, Click View Details
