Thanks, I looked everywhere for info on this with no luck. I've spent hours trying to get it  to work, what a nightmare. I am trying to connect the Aver usb card to a directv box. I only have the avermedia tv player and it won't detect anything and don't want to spend 100 dollars for media center which might not work anyway. I'll try some of your techniques if I get it to work at all. HP and microsoft no help at all. Thanks for posting.
