I bought a used Designjet 4500 PS it powers on, the screen doesn't show anything, gives 8 long beeps

8 beeps indicates either a faulty or missing harddrive. You can easily confirm if it is installed by removing the back panel. If missing you will need to source this part number Q1271-60751. You can confirm the part number required by entering the serial number of the plotter into the search at HP Part Surfer.

I was also suspecting that the HDD is bad since it made make some weird sounds, so I ordered a new one, do you know by any chance what software I got to put in the drive? Thanks for your help

You have to order the drive preformatted from HP, unfortunately you cannot simply buy a drive.
