Hi Everyone
I just want to start off by mention that I'm a Field Technician for about 20years on the road. My question here is that one of my client have HP DesignJet 1055cm which prints cyan strips over everything you send to the printer. Including internal test pages examples: quality test page; demo page; settings page. I have replaced all the printheads to be sure before i start to order any replacement parts. I also contact HP ASP support and emailed them a picture and the suggest the following parts in this order. Trailing cable, carriage board and main PCB board. As this printer is no longer under warranty and billable to the client I would like to ask this forum for additional help. Please any help would greatly appreciated...Sal

Hi Everyone
Guess what the main logic board was the problem. As soon as I replaced the main logic board no more cyan strips. Call closed complete. Even though I ran the service test never did it report a problem with the logic board? Thanks for everyone's help I really do appreciate the help. Thanks

Can you post an example of the defect. Most times when you get unwanted lines or strips of ink there is an electrical issue with the printhead or something causing an electrical issue with the heads. First thing I would do is using a coffee filter or some other material, clean the contacts on the flex connector behind the printheads. Do it for all printheads, not just the cyan since they are all connected and one printhead can effect another. If this does not solve the issue I would reseat the trailing cable at the carriage side. Be very careful as not connecting the cables correctly could cause an issue where the main board can be blown on the non plus models. The plus models have a fuse which you can replace if the cable is not connected and blows the fuse. Download the service manual as there is a test point but to be honest it does not always give a good reading. If still issues report back since replacing the trailing cable, especially at the emod side can be very very trickey.

Hi David
Yes I have cleaned the contact flex connector behind the printheads after replacing all the printheads. I have not yet started to reseat any connector nor the trailing cable as of yet. I will be ordering some parts for this printer trailing cable and cariage board. I will try to post a picture here for eveyone to see. Thanks for replying to my post. Thanks

From the Service Tests (holding color button in, hit power on button, release power button but still hold color button, wait until display says initializing, then let go of color button - takes you to the service test menus.
You can test the Main PCA, EM board to see if there are any errors.
Trailing cables slip in an out with no hard connect terminal, so try that. Label them with a marker before taking them off as they are all the same and could be mixed up.
Then maybe create and message accuracy pattern, then align printheads, maybe clear eprom and start over again.
I had many another problem, but not this one.

Hi Today I will be going onsite with some parts that I ordered. Trailing cable, PCB carriage board and main PCB board. But first of all before replacing and of these parts I will try from the service test to perform the following test if needed.
1 Electronics System Þ Page 4-5
The purpose of this test is to verify the operation of the:
n Electronics Module.
n DRAM.
n Trailing Cable.
n Carriage Assembly.
2 EIO Card Þ Page 4-10
The purpose of this test is to verify the operation of the EIO Card.
3 Hard Disk Drive Þ Page 4-12
The purpose of this test is to verify the operation of the Hard Disk
Drive.
4 Ink Pressure System Þ Page 4-14
The purpose of this test is to verify the operation of the:
n Service Replaceable Kit (SRK).
n Air Pressurization System (APS).
5 Scan Axis Þ Page 4-17
The purpose of this test is to verify the operation of the Scan-Axis.
6 Paper Axis Þ Page 4-20
The purpose of this test is to verify the operation of the Paper-Axis.
7 Drop Detector Þ Page 4-22
The purpose of this test is to verify the operation of the Drop
Detector.
I report back with my findings and if any parts were replaced. Thanks for everyones help till now.

Tip:
The Drop Detector test should be done slightly different than the Service manual says.
the Drop Detector is basically a photo eye and receiver at the very top edges. If you look closely, you will see a small sideways openings on both ends. The manual shows an image of a small strip of paper placed into the opening of the drop detector. If you hold the paper strip the way it shows in the manual, the drop detector will fail. Sufficeint light gets by the thickness of the paper strip. You want to turn the paper strip 90 degrees and completely block the entire width of the opening.
Learned this the hard way.
